I like that it reads right-to-left -- the traditional direction of Jewish books. When we joined Bnai Israel last summer, I had a hard time getting used to the left-to-right prayer book. Kept turning the pages the "wrong" way.

I like the layout and typeface of the new book, but it's non-linear framework will take some getting used to.

The abundance of transliteration makes me wander away, too often, from the Hebrew text. I want to keep my Hebrew sharp; I find myself working hard to avoid the English transliteration.

The new prayer book is also formidable size-wise. I notice its significant weight. Maybe it'll help us all build bicep strength.

I think posting information on the website is a great way to go green. Religious school registration, special program registration, order forms, or billing could all be done through the internet. I already pay my monthly dues to the temple electronically. Perhaps we could have a way for a direct withdrawal so we do not need to send paper bills any more. We could also have cans just for recycling paper and glass. The town should have information about that.

Our traditions are: We keep Kosher style at home...not enough storage room for two of EVERYTHING! :) We make a point of coming to servies just about every week of the year. It is a wonderful relaxing way to end the week, and we get to see so many of our friends.

I've heard nothing but good things from the people who have worked the Ducks' concession stand and I hope to join you all for one of the games sometime soon. I actually worked a grill in college. I was known for being fast, not necessarily "good". It was a freshman dorm cafeteria, so the Ducks' concession is probably up-scale a notch or two; it couldn't be down-scale! Don't lose sight of the fund raising aspect either. The crew at this year's first game brought in almost $900 for the Temple in one evening's work. Thanks to all.

I have been attending the Torah at Panera for the past year and enjoy it very much. Somehow the topic always seems to foucs on the very ideas that my spirit needs to contemplate! Are you reading my mind Rabbi?!!! I have also attended 2 of the meditation seesions after services. I have learned over the years that meditation and contemplation are both ways to find peace and quiet in my own mind. I hope these sessions continue past Shavout. I also agree with Joel about the meditation prior to services. It would be a great way to "prepare" our bodies and spirits to recieve the prayers and blessings in our hearts while filling the temple with a peaceful energy!

I have never been much into the meditation process. I am sure that it is that I can't get my mind to where it needs to be. I have tried the Yom Kippur meditation and it just didn't do it for me.

I have loved the fact that we have introduced a bit of guitar into the Friday night service. Brings me back to the service that I grew up with while not going overboard.

While I couldn't make it this past week I love the Torah study at Panera. Every time I go it leaves me wanting a more formal service.
